This album is very reminiscent of Periphery's newest album but less heavy and more reminiscent of Melodic Metalcore (vocal-wise) and Post-Metal (atmosphere-wise) rather than straight-up Djent. Djent is indeed a genre, but this kind of djent is definitely not for me. They sacrifice guitar playing with mediocre pop choruses. I just despise the style of playing metal and then building up into a boring chorus with almost none of the instrumentation that built up to it. It feels robotic. This album has also fallen into the pitfall of "Being heavy for the sake of being heavy." Daniel Tompkins vocal work is crazy good here. I think the mixing could've used some work, Every time someone's turned up in the EQ, everyone else combines into a wall of noise at times.
