Without any special guests and samples, the Lawrence brothers’ fourth album – their first to be released independently – is their most personal yet.

Pitchfork
The A-list dance-pop duo returns to the club on a new record that’s fresher and more fun than the brothers have sounded in ages.

Although the British summer is a mixed bag of rain and more rain, ‘Alchemy’ could convince anyone there’s sun outside.

The Line of Best Fit
While incredible producers and crafters of songs, they’re also exceptional DJs with a whole career behind them. With this album they bring those two sides to one party, and while it’s not their masterpiece, it’s still a great record.

Solid vibes for a night out, but lacks much flavour.

Disclosure are one of my favourite UK garage / house acts, who first rose to prominence in late 2012 with their track "Latch" which also launched Sam Smith's career simulataneously. But they became more recognised with their follow-up single "White Noise" which peaked in the UK Singles Chart at #2 in early 2013.

Their debut album that same year "Settle" was a lot of fun, maintaining that house-y vibe of their ... read more

This whole album is basically just ok clubbing music; nothing special and no hits but still vibey and upbeat. I'd say it's the bare minimum for what good house music should be. It's got smooth production, upbeat tracks, and some great basslines to dance to. Unfortunately though it gets really boring during the middle section where it's full of similar beats, annoyingly repetitive vocal sampling, and the lack of features and the straight drum and bass house influence makes it difficult to stay ... read more

At this point, I doubt the duo will ever reach the heights of their first album but this is serviceable.

"Alchemy" is just okay. It's not doing anything out of the box or changing the game, but it's doing its style fairly well. There are some interesting ingredients here, yet the charm seems to wear off faster than expected. Certain tracks manage to catch a stride, no doubt, but there are instances where the sound dissipates into thin air and fails to keep my attention.

If you're in the mood for a modest house experience, then this album might do just that. Just don't expect it to blow ... read more

I enjoyed it while it was on, the production here is pretty consistently gorgeous in my opinion, but I just didn't really feel anything coming out of it. In part because the vibes every track had were so similar to each other.

Yeah this is fun, arguably the least dynamic or out there music that disclosure have ever put out. But the old school charm just works like a charm for me. Not gonna go down as one of the most consequential house albums of the year, but there's more to like here than otherwise.
