when the first song on your first album is "Flowers", you have created quite the challenge by setting the bar so high. they met the challenge.

Both Galaxie 500 albums wonderfully depict life for a late 20 year old in the late 80's/early 90's. Both albums have that one song that, to me, completely embodies everything about what the band stands for. Their melancholy yet sweet and vulnerable dream pop, their topical lyrics, and their loose and free approach to what it means to create a good song. This album's is Tugboat. On Fire's is Snowstorm. Two tracks that I'll always have on my device

Song for song, Today delivers a statement that not many bands make on a debut record. Insightful, coherent, and much more accessible than some other slowcore albums.
