Death metal may be experiencing a renaissance with a horde of killer news bands reigniting interest in the genre, but with Unholy Deification, it shows that the old guard still have plenty of life in them yet.
Unholy Deification gives older Incantation fans some gifts while taking others away. Sound-wise it’s darker and meaner than last time, but some of the material feels lighter and almost borders on melodeath.

Made me think of:
Immolation
Deicide
Cannibal Corpse
30 years into their career and Incantation still make more entertaining music than Frozen Soul. A really solid album, not really innovative or anything but solid. I'm surprised that old metal guard continue to put out so much quality material.
Btw, maybe somebody can tell me what the numbers in the song titles stand for?
Best: Concordat (The Pact) I, Chalice (Vessel Consanguineous) VIII, Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X
Meh: Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX, Convulse (Words of Power) III, Altar ... read more
