The Needle Drop

Though Being You Is Great... contains some of Quelle Chris' most obtuse material, it is also the Detroit MC's most ambitious and cohesive album yet.

Pitchfork

Prolific Detroit rapper-producer Quelle Chris offers up his most compelling bout of existential voyaging to date, ultimately catching more than just his own reflection in the mirror.

AllMusic

Being You Is Great is an uneasy but truth-filled album of reflections and observations which should be easily relatable to moody, reserved types.

Exclaim!

Another sign of his confidence: his fearlessly dense rhymes and carefree offbeat flow, both of which defy any convention and make major demands on the listener.

PopMatters

Quelle Chris has made an ambitious project that will likely push him to the forefront of the local scene, but as listening material, it doesn’t quite justify its runtime or the existence of many of its songs.

Thoughtful material from a goofy guy like Quelle Chris. Super Underrated artist that deserves more attention considering the material he's releasing.

This is native Detriot MC Quelle Chris most uncanny album to date. His latest album Being you is great, i wish i could be you more often is chopped filled with abstract jazz hip-hop and obscure dry humour. This album definitely has mixed results and one negative that critics say is Chris being over-bearing with the quirkiness. However, in my opinion, this album is compelling to the fact that the materiel presented over 17 track-list keeps me intrigued. No doubt there are tracks superior to others, ... read more
