It's a lack of originality that turns the sound stale rather quickly.
The Toronto native is in a similar mode here, over predominantly trap-styled tracks that are more about creating a low-wattage soundtrack for chemical and sexual mischief than foundations for songs.
Nav is little other than a smelted down, half-heartedly rendered image of a bad trend, disserviced by bad and difficult to distinguish songs. As a result, NAV is front-to-back one of the blandest takes on the genre so far. Now that's an achievement, however dubious.
NAV’s songcraft is sharp, but the lack of dynamics ultimately makes this debut feel one-note.
