idk how they managed to not make the word "winnipesaukee" sound goofy as fck, props
this is like if i was walking home from the bar piss drunk listening to a nick cave song, but because im near blacked out everything about the song sounds warped from the bowels of hell.
According to Wiki, "Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in the U.S. state of New Hampshire, located in the Lakes Region at the foothills of the White Mountains. It is approximately 21 miles long and from 1 to 9 miles wide, covering 69 square miles —71 square miles when Paugus Bay is included—with a maximum depth of 180 feet. The center area of the lake is called The Broads".
It's spooky season, and Model/Actriz are doing their best to channel their Xiu Xiu-esque theater-kid vibes into this song. They're trying too hard here, and I'm not convinced.
Doesn't quite hit the same as the material off dogsbody but still another damn good track
A genuinely unsettling and creepy song that tiptoes around the listener, inviting the listener to partake in its cursed witches’ dance.
It’s literally a perfect song for the start of spooky season and an interesting single choice (I’m not sure if this is the start of a new era but we will see I guess).
9.2/10
This might be their heaviest song yet, it's concerning how brutal and hopeless this is - like are they okay?? I expect this to be one of the band's most polarizing releases to date, but I think it's brilliantly executed. It keeps me disturbed and on edge for its entire duration. I'm seriously intrigued as to how their next album will shape up, and how this song will fit into it. If it's as good as this, we're about to dodge the sophomore slump spectacularly.
so unsettling and creepy... sounds like something is coming for me and kill me horribly, a nice experience overall 9/10
