She has a sense for nuance and feeling, in both her storytelling and in her song construction; a sensibility that I find more mature, perhaps, than Taylor Swift’s lauded writing. But like Taylor Swift, before her, she is soundtracking the toughest, most memorable years of her listeners’ lives, with grace, creativity, and hope.

PopMatters
This is pop music spiked with something stronger than liquor. Eliza McLamb knows that happiness is an illusion yet she can’t help wanting and rejecting it.

Under the Radar

It’s the overcoming, the living, the lessons learned, and ultimately the hope that ends up shining through.

Exclaim!

Going Through It documents McLamb's journey to find gratitude — and her true self — amid the chaos of other people's needs.

On her Sarah Tudzin-produced debut album, the Los Angeles singer/songwriter dissects her past to understand her future through soft-hearted snark and understated triumphs.

Wtf.. This is so pretty.
Going Through It is an Indie/Singer-Songwriter project brimmed with cozy vocals and instrumentals, and one of the most underrated projects so far this year. Going Through It is an album about-- you guessed it-- going through it. Common themes of stress and depression float about the depths of what this holds, as she delivers it in the dreamiest way possible.
At points, this can seem uninspired, while other sections feel like a new batch of emotions. The simplistic, yet ... read more

You know... this isn't actually too bad.

I always enjoy occasionally looking at the AOTY homepage and clicking on one of the not-so-popular album and seeing what it has to offer and this has some charm to it. Of course, there are elements of these songs that feel basic, and I get it, but throughout the LP, some of what's deemed 'plain' is used to create some of the coziest January vibes to offer. Throughout the album, tracks such as 'Before', 'Just Like Mine', and 'Anything You Want' deliver a ... read more

Eliza McLamb's debut album, "Going Through It" is a flawed yet introspective exploration of the complexities of modern womanhood. While its thoughtful lyrics and sharp observations offer glimpses of McLamb's potential, the album is ultimately weighed down by its uneven pacing and lack of musical cohesion.

The introspective ballads are often poignant, while the fast-paced rockers demonstrate McLamb's humor and self-awareness. However, the transitions between these contrasting styles ... read more

You know in New Moon where Bella jumps off the cliff and then she's just in the water. Time slowed down. It's like she's facing mortality and all of the moments that brought her to that position. This album is for that moment... just without the vampires. This album makes me want to float... unlike Bella. But in all seriousness, this album is definitely going in my saved albums. Love a good soft indie moment.
