This is a decent short collection of songs by Death Cab. None of the songs floored me or anything, but Little Bribes and A Diamond and a Tether were good tunes. The latter has a melody element that reminds me of the band's latest single, Here To Forever. The EP also includes a demo of Talking Bird, which is a pretty, dreary little ditty from the band's standout album, Narrow Stairs, from 2008.

In practice, Narrow Stairs' companion EP The Open Door comes across more as an extended single backing up the opening track Little Bribes, which like many songs from the album it accompanies feels dramatically different from most other Death Cab for Cutie songs. It has a bouncy, somewhat bluesy groove to it that takes a second to click, but once it does the song becomes a ton of fun and an interesting deep cut.

When the pandemic hit a year ago, Ben Gibbard's livestreams were like an emergency blanket; his voice, appropriately awkward, a little like home. For many of us, it represents our first foray into "indie" music (more on that when I acquire and listen to Plans) and even when the lyrics are a little clunky, it'll always bring that feeling.

This short EP sustains some great energy and "My Mirror Speaks" is a favorite Death Cab track.
