Synth-pop was all the rage in the 80s; with bands like Depeche Mode, The Human League, and Duran Duran contributing to the cause. But the sound that Tears For Fears brought to the table was something a bit different. It wasn't your average synth-pop, just as they weren't your average pop duo. Surprised this project doesn't get brought up a lot in talks about iconic new wave and synthpop releases

anthemic pop that was omnipresent in 1985. easy to dismiss due to their mainstream popularity but this is a superior pop record full of great hooks and iconic moments.

I’ve had this record on a loop as of late. Songs, particularly “Shout,” seem to be even more relevant during these times. Tears For Fears created music that transcended beyond their generation. Songs from the Big Chair is a timeless record, which will be understood after one listen.
