Im about 3 tracks in as of typing this, this is such a radical shake up from the last album. I’m honestly loving what I’m hearing so far, intrigued to see where it goes from here!

ACTUAL REVIEW:

Wow. Fucking. Wow.

First and foremost, if you’re expecting more debut glass beach, you’re gonna be sorely disappointed. This album is one of the biggest, most radical changeups from the original sound for a band in quite a while. GB for the most part shed off most of the power ... read more

Yeah, the hype is real on this one.

This is my introduction to glass beach. I was aware of this album prior to its release but I didn't know who these guys are, and what the hell their music sounds like, and honestly, I kinda ignored this release. Of course I got decently intrigued when I saw the high score it's receiving upon release, so I checked it out. And well, It's amazing.

This is glass beach's sophomore album, five long years after their praised debut "the first glass beach ... read more

Don't let their ass covers fool you.

Wow. I don't know who the fuck these guys are, but they just dropped what will go down as one of the best records of the year.

I wasn't prepared for this. Sure, I've seen people hyping up the album and praising the singles, but because of their cover of "Welcome to the Black Parade" (the only song I've heard from them) I didn't plan on listening to this just based on pure principle. When I saw the rave reviews though, my curiosity was ... read more

I've heard of glass beach before and I've listened to a few songs from the 2019 album "the first glass beach album", and while I thought it was cool, nothing really grabbed me by the ballsack.

But now, immediately after hearing the first track, my ballsack has been grabbed. Very tightly. This thing slaps!

The genre fusion on here is absolutely amazing, combining the elements of Art Rock, Emo, and Prog Rock, with even elements of Math Rock and Post-Hardcore. Sounds very tasty on ... read more

From deep below the ocean surface, Glass Beach returns with a heartfelt and powerful album on isolation and the need for connection

If you were anticipating more of the same you might be sorely disappointed, but I find this to be an incredible leap for a sophomore album.

From the very first notes of "Coelacanth," it becomes abundantly clear that Glass Beach has shed its former skin. The power-pop and emo nuances of the past have been replaced by a metamorphosis into a progy, and ... read more

glass beach’s sophomore album sees the band massively increase the scale of their music. plastic death is packed with moody vocals, soaring guitars, and anything else needed to build up the world of this project

However, despite all this, the band loses much of what made them so fun and charming in the first place. They often feel like they are focused on being the next Radiohead with the absolute scale of these songs, that it can make even the smallest grievances look gigantic. When you ... read more

This album feels like catching up with someone you haven't seen in a while because DAMN they changed

I’ve been pretty damn hyped for this album for a while now. I loved their debut, and relistening to it recently only made me more excited for this album since it took them so long. And this was a surprise, they nearly completely changed style on this thing.

This is the second and latest album from the indie rock band Glass Beach. Coming after a nearly 5-year wait, the band delivers with ... read more

Yeah I’m not really feeling this one as much. It’s definitely frustrating for me to not 'get' an album that a majority of other people love.

For context, no. I’d never heard of glass beach until seeing this album trending and rated impressively high on this site. I was pretty stoked to get into it considering that most of my favourite albums from the past year were introduced to me in this exact way. But unfortunately, this was one of those cases where an album just simply ... read more

There has been quite a lot of hype surrounding this album recently. I mean it's currently at number 1 on the top albums of the year list and even if it's only January people are still showing a lot of hype towards this thing. And I previously had never heard a single glass beach song. I think I had seen the album cover of their first album but that was the only thing that I knew about them.band even with that I only distantly remembered that album cover. So I wasn't sure what exactly to expect ... read more

THANK YOU FOR 700 FOLLOWERS!!! And thanks to @pizzagod1337 for the recommendation!!! This is maybe my longest review thus far, so I hope you all enjoy!!!

A few notes before I get into the review proper: first, I'm a little late to this one (I told Pizza I'd get it done by the end of January, and the hype around the album has died down in the last few weeks since it released), but it's actually worked out perfectly because my review celebrating 600 followers (exactly three weeks before I hit ... read more

Plastic Beach but better????????

I can't lie. This year was starting off dull and boring. But then this album came in and completely destroyed my insides. In other words, it's an AOTY contender so far. I've never heard glass beach before, but this album feels so fresh while still having those classic elements you hear in other math and emo rock albums. The instrumentation is nothing short of amazing. There are moments where it's beautiful, there are moments where it fucking slaps, and there ... read more

This is one of those album covers that I don’t know if I love it or if I’m appalled by it…

‘Plastic Death’ is the seconds studio LP by Indie Rock and Art-Rock band, Glass Beach. The album was released on January 19, 2024 through Run For Cover records and the album was precedentes by two singles - those being ‘the CIA’ and ‘rare animal’. The band consists of J (Vocalist/Guitarist), William White (Drummer), Jonas Newhouse (Bassist), and ... read more

Woahhh it’s a little ghost fella

BRUHHHHHHHH this is so good?!?!?!? Wowwwww this is 100% gonna be in my top albums of the year. I enjoyed their first album (especially the song glass beach) but I kinda think this is a lottt better. They get a lot more artsy fartsy with this album and I like myself some artsy shit. Not to mention everything about this is so impressive, from the production to the performances and songwriting. Also this is such a left turn from their last album too?? This ... read more

good album but not what i wanted as a glass beach lover.
i don't think it's very productive to judge albums based off what they aren't instead of what they are, but it helps explain why I don't love this album as much as other people do. the best parts about The First Glass Beach Album are the unhinged emo Jeff Rosenstock-inspired power pop of songs like bedroom community and cold weather, just amazingly crazy songs that really felt like no-care relatable teen angst I guess, but this album ... read more

'De-Loused in the Comatorium' meets Radiohead and then spliced with some even more over familiar sounding emo passages and vocals.

Many people will climax just reading that description out aloud but regrettably not I. Call me frigid if you must.

honestly the instrumentals on this album were incredible, the drums were so fun and the textures were simply perfect, the singer's voice works so well with everything, i wasnt expecting the screechy vocals at all and all that genre bending stuff, very catchy, cohesive and always fresh overall, very impressed, might be better than their other album even!!

Glass beach finally return with a pretty big switch up in style, creating some big waves in the music scene today. I really liked their debut and the charm that it offered, but I think that the change up moved away from my taste here unfortunately. However, this album is undeniably thorough and skilful in its execution, with some really strong writing, especially in the instrumentals, and it’s easy to see why so many people love this. The vocals are loveable, and the album didn’t ... read more
