CRITIC REVIEWS

90
The Forty-Five

On her sixth record, Madi Diaz's tender, country-tinged guitar cuts right to the core.

84
Northern Transmissions

Through her candid songwriting and heartfelt storytelling, Diaz invites listeners to journey alongside her as she navigates the tumultuous terrain of love and self-discovery.

82
Paste
This is an album that feels like a purposeful underlining of her recent successes.
80
AllMusic

Diaz not only continues to stare down complex feelings but shines a blue light on the dark underbelly of love, where the flaws, compromises, and insecurities lie.

80
DIY

‘Weird Faith’ sees Diaz defiant, ready to let her guard down again, with the title essentially referring to her faith in love; her work here evokes the gut-wrenching melodies and storytelling prowess of American supergroup boygenius.

80
Exclaim!

With Weird Faith, Diaz manages to toe a wonderful narrative line, with all the excitement and trepidation of a new relationship perfectly captured. The deeper you get into the album, the more like you feel you’re living inside her head — it’s a journey worth taking.

80
God Is in the TV

The ability to direct such wide-ranging interests to one’s own lore makes her one of the most intriguing modern folk musicians of Tennessee alongside Margo Price, Erin Rae, and Julien Baker, and even far beyond.

75
Under the Radar

With Weird Faith Madi Diaz once again gives all that she’s got, crafting a stormy and searching chronicle of falling headfirst into new love.

73
Pitchfork
After touring with Harry Styles, the Nashville songwriter returns with another showcase for her clear, expressive voice and exquisite sense of melody.
72
Beats Per Minute

Weird Faith is an honest and well-written record by one of underground pop’s sharpest and most empathetic artists.

I found this to be so generic. Like there's loads of artists that make this music but just better. Didn't connect to the songwriting and (not that she's necessarily a bad vocalist but) I found her voice to be a harsher listen when compared to others in the genre. Not necessarily a bad album, but definitely not a great one either

endearing singer-songwriter writes endearing singer-songwriter album. sorry but there were only a few songs that stood out to me. this album doesn't matter.

66

The singer-songwriter confessional style songs cut deep (most of the time), and the album is very open and vulnerable. Accompanied by a lovely guitar sound, I think this record is worth the listen, especially for indie-folk fans!

Decent, yet generic.
