Already one of the most respected producers of bass music in the UK, after making an album of this caliber, there isn’t a thing she could have to prove to anyone.
Resident Advisor

As a soundtrack for a wide variety of scenes, Distractions enhances Chen's reputation as one of UK club music's most adaptable artists.

It’s obvious after listening to ‘Distractions’ that Ikonika has well and truly found her groove. She had a vision in mind when creating this album and she definitely fulfilled what she set out to do. The only thing that holds this album back is the lack of adventure and exploration that was found throughout her debut ‘Contact, Love, Want, Have’.

Distractions has a slight dystopian sci-fi theme similar to previous Hyperdub albums such as Kode9's Nothing and NOTU_URONLINEU by DVA [Hi:Emotions], but it doesn't seem anywhere near as bleak as those releases.

Crack Magazine

Frustratingly Distractions isn’t in the same league as the dystopian amalgamations that defined Ikonika’s earlier work.
