This album is simply cool as hell and a lot of fun to listen to. Brittany Howard’s voice is insane, the production is great, and the psychedelic soul and rock influences on What Now combine to create an album that feels simultaneously timeless and fresh. On songs like To Be Still and I Don’t, Howard’s voice is reminiscent of classic 60s soul singers. Other tracks, like Red Flags and Power to Undo, contain a raucous energy that allows Howard’s vocals to fly. At times, the ... read more

My first listen to this was while doing the dishes, and it’s safe to say that impacted my experience. I thought it had some cool ideas, but it was when I actually sat down and absorbed it more purposefully that I started to really enjoy it. This is a really solid project that doesn’t have a bad song, but what’s more impressive to me is that every song stands out and experiments while still creating a cohesive sound across the album as a whole. If I had to nitpick, I’d ... read more

It can be a little inconsistent at times, but the variety of this record has to applauded. Brittany’s best showing to date as she continues her impressive upward trajectory

Wow, this is a vibe. This album is absolutely stellar, like off the walls incredible. The soul and funk instrumentation makes me wanna dance, Brittany's vocal performance has such a diverse range and she knocks it out of the park! The title track and "Another Day" are absolute bangers on this spiritual, vibrant album, but it also has more calmer, smooth tracks such as "To Be Still or "Samson". Speaking of the latter, I really love that trumpet on "Samson", it ... read more

I love how Brittany doesn't restrict herself in any way, she fully understands her vocal and creative capabiliities; as a result she blesses us with some of her most colourful and fabulous material to date. Shocking how much someone can master being a free soul in music...

This album literally breathed joy into me. I love it :>

Cover art matches the album perfectly. This is such an immersive and vibrant experience from start to finish. Even though not every part of this project is easy to return to casually, this feels like an incredibly complete trip of an album that's chock-full of highlights. I didn't get around to hearing Jaime in its release year but this project makes me think that was a huge mistake that I'll be rectifying soon

Tem várias músicas aqui candidatas às listas de melhores do ano, como "What Now", "Prove It To You" e "Power to Undo", todas elas excelentes. Não dei uma ... read more

Jaime is good, but this is a step up from it. VERY GOOD

let's start by saying this: Brittany Howards is one of the most talented artists in the industry right now! her vocal abilities, her songwriting capacity and her presence (cannot even phantom how fantastic it must be live) are truly unique and overlooked all the time. with this new project, i believe she stepped up her own game as this is arguably the best music she has ever put out (probably both as a solo artist and as part of the Alabama Shakes).
from the psychedelic production to the fusion ... read more

Fineee Brittany.. I'll take psychedelics and absolutely groove next time I see you live. I mean you're basically insisting when you release an album like this.

'What Now' is a potent melting-pot of psychedelic soul from the legendary Alabama Shakes front woman. While she may be known for her vocal performances, Brittany really shines lyrically and thematically on this latest project. It's not as powerful as her previous LP, Jamie, to me, but it's not far behind. While, I love the diverse ... read more

Power to Undo my previous score to rate this neo-psychedelia album higher than I did the first listen. What a fantastic album! Brittany Howard cannot disappoint and glad she didn't suffer the sophomore slump - atta girl.

Certified BANGERS on this one. That guitar on Power To Undo is nothing short transcendental.

The 2nd solo album from Brittany Howard is a nice mix of soul and funk. I personally prefer the funkier upbeat tracks but they all work with her tremendous voice.

Just remembered I listened to this. Figured I should talk about it.

It's a pretty enjoyable album. I find myself challenged to think of people who would hate listening to this album. It's very relaxing and it made me just enjoy going through it. The Soul sound throughout doesn't lose its touch as I find myself floating through the songs. That being said, I didn't get too invested in the album as I felt disconnected from it ultimately. I didn't emotionally connect with this album that much, but ... read more

The conceptual themes are quite intriguing but it sort of falls flat when it gets down to vocal execution.
