This album might secretly only have the depth of a paddling pool but the sun dances real pretty over the water anyway.

In other words: this is how you record great ‘background music’.

I like to imagine that Phasor is like a beautiful utopian paradise and we are just birds flying around it listening to its sounds.

Helado Negro's PHASOR is just a pleasant experience from front to back.

never heard of him...that's all. I don't really have much to say...but this album is great!

First of all, the production is really beautiful. For some reason, whenever I look at the album cover, I'm just like "yeah...that makes sense". It's weird how much the album cover matches the production and the overall feel of the songs on here. Everything is calming and relaxing pretty much everywhere in this album. No ... read more

Whatever combination of sounds and moods are present here just lift my spirits and it’s one of those records I feel like I could get some emotion out of even on the most depressed of days and those records are few and far between.

My man just dropped some of the freshest sounding songs of the year so far.

PHASOR is a very soft indietronica project that has so much tasteful experimentation, it sounds effortlessly original. It also has some latin pop roots, and I also sense some dream-pop aspirations as well (the opening track especially, which sounds like the latin version of After the Magic).

With all that said, next to the crisp sounds of the album, the other thing I like the most here is how laid-back it is. PHASOR ... read more

It's been exciting to hear Helado Negro further solidify his unique sound, but also hear a willingness to branch out and that is on display on his latest album PHASOR. There's something about Lange's writing that makes me feel soothed and comforted and that quality is still very present throughout, but I also got a sense that Lange was looking further out this time. The usual warm vibe and sentiment of songs like "I Just Want To Wake Up With You" and "Es Una Fantasia" is ... read more

To be completely honest, I don't have a precise definition to classify this project. However, for the most part, it has its merits and peculiarities, but also a search for identity within the songs themselves, which may be considered a negative aspect.

On the other hand, it's an ambient pop album that represents the genre well, although it may not bring much experimentation. 'PHASOR' lasts for 35 minutes and is orchestrated by the talented Helado Negro, a Latin American artist known for his ... read more

This is my first time hearing an album from this artist, and it seems to be a curious place to start since this album goes head first into the sounds of Ambient Pop and Indietronica for just 35 minutes at a time, and sounding really well balanced and beautiful as well
The 9 songs on here are pretty much jam sessions with an ambient and moody flair, and Helado does come through with a decent amount of highlights overall, especially on "Out There" and "I Just Want To Wake Up With ... read more

This guy doesn't know how to make bad music. Every project is a new venture into beautiful neo-psychedelia, and this is no exception. A solid addition to an outstanding discography of records so far.

Hey, Liberal Snowflakes: Stay clear of Helado. I would hate for you to hear his surname. Beautiful soundscapes on PHASOR, by the way, Mr. Negro.

Helado Negro sigue demostrando que su talento está intacto. Quizás uno de sus mejores álbumes. Una grata sorpresa.

The album aims to create an intimate and peaceful atmosphere, but the production and vocal performance are so mediocre that it fails to capture its artistic vision.

Ok I didn't expect to felt this album that much, especially while listening to it in public transport; there's something exceptionally intimate, hazy, and rich about the tone of this project. I think the great variety of textures have a lot to play in that; the immersive kind of liquidy feel in 'I Just Want To Wake Up With You' for example, or the subtle and distant bells in 'Echo Tricks Me'. The sounds are oddly quiet but feel so real at the same time, maybe it's the way it's been recorded. ... read more

It's a funky and atmospheric listen, which occasionally becomes beautiful and well defined. It's works really well.as a full experience. Well, except the wildly experimental passages at the start of pretty much every track. They don't really work for me in context with the rest of the album and, especially when they happen at the end, pull me out of the dreamy world these tracks do so well to construct. It's still a great listen overall, but it could be a lot better as a full listen if it was ... read more

This record makes me feel extremely nostalgic. From a Guatamelan-American artist I wasn't familiar with prior, this hit me with that same kind of indietronica, multilingual comfort I've craved ever since rinsing In The Silence by Asgeír as a teen.

This definitely feels to me like a classic case of an album trying to be way more than it is. PHASOR, as others have pointed out, was clearly created with the intention of it being a groovy, uplifting, float on the clouds type of record - the vision is clear - create a breezy, uplifting atmosphere, laced with futuristic synths and all kinds of other abstract sounds, and to an extent, it succeeds in doing so. There are definitely dreamy moments here and there that somewhat make up for some of ... read more
