"And the mountain that drew us together is lit
By the lightning that crackles and rivals the wind
Where the only expression of love is through tears
And the highest creation on earth is a bird
The most powerful symbol, a two-headed bird"

Perfect for Halloween. I remember driving around Vermont listening to this a ton in the dead of winter 2004. Liars begins to take some steps away from the art punk of the debut. There are little hints of drums not dead on here.

Their worst album so far.

There are definitely some less interesting cuts on here, but among those are also stellar gems such as Hold Hands and It Will Happen Anyway, Flow My Tears the Spider Said and We Fenced Other Gardens with the Bones of Our Own.

Liars retreat to a safer and more traditional approach to post-punk on here and it mostly works in their favor.
