This is top-flight stuff, and not just because I needed to glancingly reference the band’s name before signing off.

Under the Radar
Many songs play out like shared "private" jokes but succeed all the time.

A.V. Club
Best of all, the Conchords never force their hand, frequently letting bizarre sonic references and awkward lyrical fumbles serve as unspoken punchlines.

Tiny Mix Tapes
This album is a nice collection of songs for our fans.

Q Magazine
Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are indeed funny, but over the course of an album they're musical enough to withstand repeated plays.

The Observer
This album will make your life considerably better.

Prefix
Pulling off the high-wire act of musical comedy this well deserves an unabashed kudos.

NOW Magazine
Lends itself to numerous repeat listens and laughs.

Uncut

It’s safe to say that this is the most endlessly playable comedy album of the illennium.

Sputnikmusic
Flight of the Conchords created a well-rounded, original, and entertaining album filled with classic songs from their hit show.

Consequence of Sound
This is a fine debut for McKenzie and Clement, made even more impressive by their ability to make the bulk of their songs work in a medium for which they weren’t originally intended. To gain an even greater appreciation for the musical and comic talent of this pair, be sure to check out their HBO series and their live act.

NME
Somehow, even after you know all the punchlines, the tunes are solid enough to still bear pressing ‘repeat’.

AllMusic

The music is clever and catchy enough to give it merit for repeated listens. Buy the DVD first to get the full story and then pick this up for road trip singalongs.

PopMatters

If you’re not spending your days gnawing on your sofa pillows waiting for the new season of their program to premiere, Flight of the Conchords will probably appease you no questions asked.

Coke Machine Glow

Flight of the Conchords ultimately succeeds apart from its parent television show because it’s a modest comedy album.

Pitchfork

On their fictional television show, Flight of the Conchords almost never play a song that's worth a damn-- except in their imaginations. Every time they get a gig, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie take the stage and limp their way through the deadly "Who Likes to Rock the Party". But in their own heads, they're stars: deadly rappers, psychedelic princes, and unstoppable ladykillers. It's a good joke, and the Co

nchords spun it into a hilarious HBO series-- the best quasi-mockumentary since This Is Spinal Tap, and a sendup of the myth of the struggling band that came right when the whole music biz feels blue.

SPIN
Divorced from their HBO series, the songs have room to stretch a little, only occasionally sacrificing context.

[Genre: Comedy]

So... how do I review a comedy album exactly?

Well what I can say is that Flight Of The Conchords is a comedy album that is very satirical in nature and succeeds at having some very funny song concepts most of the time. Some of it I find a bit cringy but some of these lyrics are really funny. Also musically, it's quite catchy and enjoyable too, which is a good thing.

I know this review isn't as high-quality as some of my others but I'm reviewing a comedy album of all things, ... read more

Its funny and even when the jokes begin to wear thin, the tracks beneath them are still quality.
