There are four entirely new songs, most notably the seven-minute “Wallowa Lake Monster.” ... And honestly, everything else here is kind of icing after that one.

The Greatest Gift works best as a companion piece to Carrie & Lowell, a variation that offers a different spin on its themes, but it's also a powerful and absorbing work in its own right, and fans of Stevens' work will appreciate it.

A simple compilation of oddball tracks, it delivers enough to stand for itself - but is ultimately only really for the enjoyment of Stevens’ long-time fans.

Some interesting versions of some tracks of Carrie and Lowell and the new tracks are really good.
