I have never been a huge DOOM fan, but I gave this a chance. Glad I did. Really fantastic album front to back. I can’t add a lot that other people haven’t said better. It’s overall just really solid

Right in the middle of one of the best album runs of any rapper alive (1999-2005), MF DOOM’s second 2003 release is the darkest and most aesthetically potent of his noteworthy discography. Released under the alias Viktor Vaughn, the album follows a younger and more inexperienced villain in misadventures from time-traveling drug deals and black magic rituals to everyday muggings. All of which are backed by murky electronic beats that further empower the imagery DOOM’s writing ... read more

Amazing

This man is relentless, he makes EVERY SINGLE BAR count. I only wish the instrumentals were always as detailed as Victor's lyrics. I'm crazy about the characters and the lore too, however I don't think the album spends its time wisely, it often draws out instrumentals at the end of tracks for some reason and I think the "Open Mic Nites" are a waste of time.

Best: Mr. Clean, Let Me Watch, The Drop, Vaudeville Villain, Lickupon, Saliva, Never Dead

Weakest: Open Mic Nite, Pt. ... read more

DOOM also delivers some of the better lyrics of his career, and tells a very clear and entertaining story. the only part of this project i didnt care for too much were the open mic nite tracks, i appreciate the intent but the interruptions by the ... read more

i have no fear or no regrets of rating this max. Doom's talent in here sounds almost infinite, and the development of Viktor as an alternate persona actually feels like another person, with another vision of reality and darker themes, even for MetalFace. The production in here is Heroic and Colossal, obscure and shocking, but still doesn't outshine doom in an underwhelming way.
