An year after his major success with the late success of his debut album T R A P S O U L, Bryson releases his second album, and it's was a flop
Bryson still knows how to make catchy addicting hooks and soulfully mature R&B songs, but this is mostly the cliché Bryson, his essence and formula is exactly the same as ever, and he even ends up making this album more repetitive and less enjoyable than his last, it is an hour long but it takes so long to end, unlike his last album this ... read more
Bryson Tiller's "True to Self" is an album that falls somewhere in the middle of the road, offering a mixed bag of tracks that left me feeling rather indifferent. While there are certainly moments of promise and glimpses of Tiller's talent, the overall listening experience left me wanting more.
One of the standout aspects of the album is Tiller's smooth and melodic voice, which remains consistent throughout. He has a knack for creating a laid-back atmosphere that can be quite ... read more
Three words: Filler, filler and filler
a 58 minute, 19 track album that compared to Trap Soul is underwhelming and disappointing.
This album is too long, it's very simple, predictable and kinda boring a lot of the time, but I can't lie, I got a few bangers from this album, and that's all I really hoped for with it, so I ain't too mad at it.
maybe the most boring album ive ever listened to. who told him that releasing an album of 19 filler songs was a good idea. there's nothing interesting or unique about this album. the hooks aren't even catchy and the production is mid at best, the lyrics are generic and/or garbage, and its way too long. why does this exist
A complete waste of a project for Bryson. Following up after his hit debut “Trapsoul”, True to Self is slow, repetitive, and in all honestly not engaging at all.
it's not bad, but i understand why nobody actually likes this album. however, the production is top notch and a really nice album if you don't pay attention
Unpopular opinion: this album is great, filled with more enjoyable songs that make Bryson Tiller, Bryson TIller. The album was a bit more rap focused and less thematically driven but such a fun and banger filled project

Trash trying make mad people love trapsoul so much
I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible... most of the album sounds like throwaways he didn't try on. There's about 7 tracks I enjoyed out of the 18 songs, the rest are super sleepy. At least I can say this is my least favourite Bryson album.
After an incredible, relatable, and capturing debut in Trapsoul, True To Self was a generic and boring sophomore album.
Favorite Songs: Self-Made, Rain On Me, Don't Get Too High
Least Favorite Songs: Run Me Dry, High Stakes, Before You Judge
Bryson, wtf is this. Every track is so boring and sounds like every throwaway from TRAPSOUL. There’s nothing interesting or unique about this album, and not a single moment stands out for me.
T R A P S O U L was one of the best R&B albums of the last decade. It propelled Bryson's entire career and really allowed him to continue to stay relevant after this album caught a brick. True To Self isn't terrible but it feels like a collection of cutting floor tracks. The production that was on T R A P S O U L had character; the beats were diverse. The vast majority of the production on here is lifeless, icy, and hazy R&B/trap mix. That might not sound too bad but after the first ten ... read more
Immaculate😫
Perfect amounts of Rap and R&B blended together and is one of the few albums where I don’t mind the skits

The most underappreciated album from Bryson Tiller. There are so many amazing songs with great production, catchy hooks, smooth singing and nice flows. Before You Judge, Self-Made and Set It Off are the highlights among many other brilliant tracks on this album. You should definitely check out this album if you like RnB and pop rap.
