There's a slight drawback to this cohesion -- It's Not Me never hits heights as blinding as "Smile" or "LDN" -- but this approach does wind up spotlighting just how special a pop star Lily Allen is, how she captures all that's wretched and glorious about her time without falling into any of its traps, probably because she's clever enough to avoid them in the first place.
Even if the new album can be cheaply on-the-nose and opportunistic at times, it's hard to root against Lily Allen.
It's Not Me, It's You é o segundo álbum da Lily Allen e, de maneira geral, permanece à altura do que a britânica apresentou em seu trabalho anterior.
É uma ... read more

There are too many records that deserve the ratings this album has been getting WAY BEFORE this album.
FAVORITE TRACKS: THE FEAR, WHO'D HAVE KNOWN.
For a pop album to be this well written, tongue-in-cheek, witty, funny, in your face, poignant, honest and for it to have aged so well is certainly rare. It's kind of a pity that the production at times may overshadow the aforementioned, though. While it may easily be among Greg Kurstin's cleanest production works, it doesn't attempt to go anywhere outside the generic pop/synthpop mold and while that works for Lily Allen and this album, the potential is there dying to be exploited and it isn't.
I will proudly die on the hill saying that Lily Allen was very much ahead of her time in terms of pop songwriting. She bought a whole lot of brutal honesty, humour and sarcasm to pop music that a lot of artists today clearly take inspiration from.
