This is a really great record. I think there are some flaws throughout, but overall this thing has a lot of beautiful moments, and a lot of heavier hard hitting moments that blend well. I'm such a sucker for Layne's voice, so it's hard for me not to like a lot of these tracks. I like how they expand a lot of the instrumentation on this one as well. Mad Season's "Above" was an album that looked quite interesting when I first looked at it. After checking out the album, however, I can't help but feel a little unfulfilled. Yes, it offers a very unique and, at times, quite impactful take on the grunge genre, but apart from some very intriguing ideas, this album never fully grabbed my attention.
