Very good

Very generic sounding and safe. Not bad per say, just samey and a bit boring. Not for me, but I'm sure it has it's audience.

Came and went just like that. Nothing particularly interesting and didn't really catch my attention. Not bad though for an indie pop songs with a lot of twang guitars.

Ducks stocks on the rise.

This is my first time encountering Ducks Ltd. and even though there's nothing across their latest album Harm's Way that sets them apart from other bands dabbling in jangle pop, it's still a solid listen. The easy-going vibes of "Hollowed Out" and "Train Full of Gasoline" are very pleasant and the peppiness of tracks like "The Main Thing" and "On Our Way To The Rave" make this a worthwhile listen. Once more, Ducks Ltd. isn't re-inventing jangle pop across ... read more

When you make a debut as good as 'Modern Fiction' was, sometimes it's hard to follow up.

While some of the magic Ducks Ltd can make is here on 'Harm's Way', it never reaches the same emotional gut punch.

Also, 'Harm's Way', the title track, is virtually a less good copy of 18 Cigarettes with like 3 different notes at the end. That's just laziness.

Highlights: Cathedral City, The Main Thing

Lowlights: Harm's Way

Hey babe, let’s get a pack of cigs and a bottle of wine and turn up to our favorite jangle pop songs

Nice

It's a nice jangle pop record. That's about it. My decision to review a bunch of 2024 albums in the course of this year seems to be showing its weak sides. Simple indie delights like this one no longer feel that effective when you've already heard something like that a few times in the past couple of weeks. If you've been staying away from indie for a while, Harm's Way is a good and well-performed album that might rekindle that interest, but it can also work the other way round. It's right in ... read more

First we had Swans, then we had Geese. Now we have Ducks, and their Limited!!! This can't be, we need UNLIMITED DUCKS! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

Ducks Ltd. is a new band in my eyes as I've never heard of them before this point. From what I'm picking up on they are very jangly! Gives me early R.E.M. vibes, which is a great thing. The only thing I think I have a problem with this is that it's too formulaic, it really just reads the book verbatim and doesn't really try to break away from that jangle / ... read more

One of the more harmless albums I've ever come across. It gets a little tired by the end, though.

In the past two months, the 90s jangly indie pop - Umbrellas in San Francisco and Ducks in Toronto have played very well. The album is smooth, pure, and sometimes particularly wonderful, exceeding the impression of a single. I only found out in the morning that there are members of Ratboys and Dummy (it's the German & Stereolab fan band!) to play, and the music connects indie pop friends who are far apart

Few Jangle pop bands can tickle me like Big Star, Felt or Real Estate. But this album successfully delivers the seemingly counteracting sweet melody and gloomy lyrics as Third/Sister Lovers, albeit the context is not as deep as it.

Really easy on the ears. Between the soft vocals and the bouncy guitars, it's lighthearted energy that puts you in a good mood. It's a little repetitive, but it's also pretty short, so it balances out.

yes it sounds nice, thats it.

It doesn’t get much janglier; or much poppier than this. Harm’s Way is a short but sweet listen- 9 brisk, by-the-numbers indie tracks that don’t really reach their full potential, but don’t put a foot wrong either.

yeah, pretty boring and generic jangly music. there wasn't much to be found in the lyrics anywhere, either. just wasn't really for me.

Often overlooked, jangle pop occupies the nexus point between cute, pinstriped uplift and exasperated melancholy. Ducks Ltd. operate in the latter territory. Their lyrics are thoroughly downcast, multiple songs referring to dilapidated cities, lost futures, broken people, and the slow march of climate change. But the songs are more dainty than despondent, buried behind sugary guitars and airy, accented vocals. ‘Hollowed Out’ is a rousing indie pop anthem, energetic and ... read more

After sampling all the new releases via Apple, this is the only album I deemed worth "adding."

Very good. Best new discovery i've made this year.

Think they have great potential, this was just a bit boring as most of it sounds the same. I still did enjoy it a quite lot.
