Saturation is everything that I expected to get from Brockhampton. After all of the stellar singles they put out, it was obvious that the whole album couldn't be like that, and it wasn't. To me, the singles are by far the best tracks on the record (Star and Gold are some of my favorites from the whole year so far), but there are still tracks that were held to be released with the full album that are just as charismatic and fun as the singles.
By now, everyone is well aware of the obvious ... read more

A few of the tracks were great and showed a lot of potential, but it felt very dragged out and was often stopped with pop rap filler

My least favorite of the trilogy, some boring tracks here and there and some generic ones but worth a listen none the less

There is, in fact, quite a bit to be enjoyed in this scattered, multi-faceted collection os tracks that can go from hard-hitting boom-bap to trap to RnB and grime in just a matter of instants, but a bulk of its material loses its flavour (both in terms of performance and production) after the first few cuts. Still, there is enough here to put Brockhampton as a really promising act, as soon as they balance the ground covered for their next few releases. Apparently time is all they need, now that ... read more

If Frank Ocean and Migos had a baby, we'd have BROCKHAMPTON. And thank god we do have it. It's an inspired and hearty sound for a rap group, in a world that lacks strong rap groups. With this being their first debut album they come out guns ablazing. Firing off some of their best shots with the first few tracks and maintaining and experimental flow from start to finish. Very little music exists like this, and I'll be bumping this for a long while. I'm hella excited for SATURATION II.

I could see why people would t understand this. It’s not for everyone. However this album is an arrangement of some of the most fun and creative songs of 2017

Watching American Boyband on Viceland gives such a cool insider's look to this album, and how Brockhampton operates. Listening to this without watching that show gave me the impression that these were mid-twenties guys buying beats from LA natives, who have been in the LA scene for awhile. Pretty standard issue rap group biography. However, seeing how this album REALLY came to be makes it so much better. These aren't experienced rappers who take strangers' beats through internet transactions. ... read more

EDIT: This album can have some boring moments time-to-time, but I still enjoyed a majority of this album. (Original score: 94) SECOND EDIT: BUMP as worst track? Nah it's EASILY the best

This album is full of some of the most creative hip-hop songs I've heard like at all. A lot of the tracks are great, and if one's my least favourite it's just because it's outshined by other album tracks and is still a favourite. Even when a freaking interlude, 2PAC, is one of my all-time favourite BROCKHAMPTON ... read more

Brockhampton begin the Saturation trilogy, in what feels so effortless, with young, boyish confessions of innocence and finding a place in life. The way Brockhampton was conceived was through a Kanye West forum (which I just have to point out that without Kanye, Brockhampton wouldn't have happened) and after all meeting up in California they instantly started producing track after track, making the most of their remaining teenage years. What stands out the most in Saturation I compared to the ... read more

Ethereal, bubbly, experimental, and hard-hitting, “SATURATION” is sonically dynamic and lyrically superb. While “SATURATION” isn’t my favorite album of the trilogy, it is a rock-solid album and a great introduction to BROCKHAMPTON.
The album begins with the hyper-aggressive, industrial “HEAT.” Each verse is deliriously irate and deals with the topic of police brutality and the idea of police in general. The production on this track, featuring ... read more

This is a near-perfect collection of songs from Brockhampton. There is not a bad song on this entire album, which is pretty impressive, considering there are 14 songs plus skits. Every song sounds different from each other and different from what the mainstream sounds like. However, the songs are still catchy and poppy. They encompass so many different moods. This is definitely one of the best rap projects of the decade.

Highlights include HEAT, GOLD, STAR, BOYS, SWIM, BUMP, and FACE.

In 2017, I discovered BROCKHAMPTON and took one of the biggest slaps in my life. I think Brockhampton is the most innovative and the best hip-hop band of the last years. The band makes pop, or more generally art, rather than traditional hip-hop. We also find, among its 14 official members (13 now, since the dismissal of Ameer Van following accusations of sexual abuse), singers, as well as a manager, a designer, a photographer and a developer of Web sites. Their personal profiles are also ... read more

I love Broccolihampton but this is a bit overrated, a lot of it feels unfinished and even bad at some points. It has some of their best and worst material

Edit: i was very wrong about this project, some of their best rapping and craziest beats are on this thing. the chemistry between the members is absolutely infectious. this has went from being my least favorite bh album to my absolute favorite

Trap is where they're at their best, except there are barely any tracks of that to speak of. Plus, the R&B filler is suffocating. Face it: most of these guys can't sing. I don't understand why they don't match their strengths with this project.

Fresh out the woodwork, BROCKHAMPTON is killing the game!

But new and inventive can only get you so far. After listening to all their albums in the SATURATION TRILOGY, you can't tell me this is the album you return to the most. Returning to listen, it feels wonky and underproduced, and occasionally without focus. The sheer star power of HEAT and STAR feel way heavier. It's thankful that they continue to grow and develop their craft though, cause it still was one of the best albums of the year ... read more

The 3 track stretch of Heat, Gold, and Star is still perfect. I would have included Boys with those tracks, but I find the hook way to obnoxious for it to be listenable. The remainder of my criticism with this album is how a lot of the hooks and verses feel amateurish.

A common criticism I see is the use of auto-tune ruining the experience. I actually feel it is used well for the majority of the album. This album has way more glaring issues than "autotune is bad i ... read more

One of the most refined and polished rap records of the decade, with instantly catchy tracks like "Boys" and "Gold", intensely well performed and well written bangers with "Heat", "Bump" and "Star", and even introspective and gloomy tracks like "Face", "Milk" and "Waste". A highlight of 2017, and a strong start to what would become the infamous Saturation Trilogy.

A great summer time collection that really never gets old. On this project the group actually feels like a group, a group where each member has great chemistry with another. Each member offers their own flair to this, keeping it diverse and fresh, while not feeling cluttered. The first half I would say, has some of the stickiest hip-hop tracks, with infectious beats and hooks that burrow through your skull pretty quickly, and delicious verses from everyone. The second half of this album feels ... read more

This was an album I did not expect to like nearly as much as I did. First half is flawless before it seems a little generic in the middle. Ends strong though. Heat may be song of the year. Someone's gotta review this one

For Heat alone this album is worth everything, but what comes across here are 15 artists with a lot of talent putting together a cohesive and engaging record of 14 songs. That's rare and it's spectacular. I've been waiting for SZA's album all year, I couldn't get off this album for very long. The range of different styles and emotions and intensities that these guys show makes this one of the best hip hop albums of 2017. Letting this sink in will be important, but hell this is great. ... read more

BABY BOY BOY, a 17 track album that flows seemlessly and fuck these brockhampton boys hit you in pack formation.

I feel Odd Future could have learnt from these guys, these voices are all uniquely textured, and its no problem mixing sexual preferences as shown here, believe it or not hip hop artists, uniqueness is wanted.

The production definitely could be better, but that's understandable for a debut especially one that blows their mixtape out of the water.

Update: this album has definitely ... read more

My main praises of the album: Each member has a chance to shine and this record does a great job at introducing each and every one of them. The hooks are extremely catchy, the flows are great, production is excellent, instrumentals are well put together. Lyrics are for the most part well crafted.
