Beautiful Thugger Girls — which lists Drake as executive producer — pushes the boundaries of Atlanta hip-hop while adding yet another groundbreaking project to the trapper's discography.

Pretty Much Amazing
Young Thug has always been lovable, never more so than here.

A.V. Club
Few artists manage to balance wide-eyed eroticism with genuine warmth, and fewer manage the feat while packing multiple albums’ worth of hooks into each song. For Thug, it’s just his default mode.

Pitchfork

Everything about Young Thug remains inimitable. He steeps himself in smooth R&B guitars on his latest, distilling the chaos of young love and lust into vital, undeniable pop.

Crack Magazine
Here, Young Thug is on his Taylor Swift, not his Johnny Cash.

XXL
This project seems to be the music Thug has wanted to make for a while but didn’t quite develop the skill set to do so until now.

PopMatters

This is one of his best packages, and it was well worth the wait and all the twists and turns in between.

Thug’s one of music’s most interesting figures, and his new album ‘Beautiful Thugger Girls’ continues his zany run of surprising brilliance.

Tiny Mix Tapes

Beautiful Thugger Girls is a rap album, and a very good one at that. If genre descriptors are to have any meaning (their uselessness beyond broad, mutually-understood categorization notwithstanding), this is non-negotiable

The Needle Drop

Young Thug delivers his most melodic and pop-friendly project yet with Beautiful Thugger Girls.

EDIT: At this point, Barter 6, Jeffery and Beautiful Thugger Girls are classic albums in my eyes. If you still don't like or understand Young Thug, I genuinely feel sorry for you.

With lots of anticipation being built up towards this as being some sort of experimental country-rap project, Young Thug took an "artistic risk" if you can call it that. In the snippet of Family Don't Matter that was released a couple weeks before the full album, acoustic guitars were emphasized and Thug ... read more

UNDERRATED ALBUM WEEK #5

Halfway through my list, here we go.

Seriously, this record is criminally underappreciated. It's easily one of the most groundbreaking, innovative and risk-taking hip-hop projects ever. Young Thug took a hazardous risk of jeopardizing his trap career for this LP, and my god did he make a statement.

But is this man ever afraid to make one? Doesn't he dress up like a girl too? Doesn't he attempt to break the social barriers of toxic masculinity in the rap industry ... read more

Young Thug delivers a fusion of Country and Trap that is just wonderful. Thugga's been one of my favourite artists recently with So Much Fun being one of my favourite albums of 2019. So it's no surprise I went into here pretty excited and I wasn't disappointed at all. Beautiful Thugger Girls takes the best elements of trap and country, and puts them into an entire album. The vocals are great, the production is amazing and the direction Thugger goes on this is a different take on the Country ... read more
