Probably the most interesting album the Trio have made up to this point.
This album is pretty experimental, at least when talking about their usual sound. They play with a lot more effects, production tricks, and different instrument choices on this one, and more often than not, their experiments create some fascinating tracks. motherfucker. crimson is so good. revisiting it has reminded me of a few reasons why i love alkaline trio so much. for example, its taken me 20 years but i finally realized that skibas vocals remind me of danzig. the songwriting is also pretty strong. alkaline trio are a pop punk band but they stand out for their dark, almost gothic lyrics about mortality. one of the best songs on the album, sadie, is a great example. at first it sounds like a typical love song until it dawns on you that this ... read more
