The Needle Drop
While all the songs head roughly in the same direction, they find various ways to do it without adding up to an album that feels disjointed or scatterbrained.

Pitchfork

Los Angeles "doom folk" singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe may white-out her eyes and show a fondness for gothic and Greek typefaces, but Apokalypsis shows there is more than meets the eye.

AllMusic

At times, the album feels a little bit like a sampler as Wolfe tries on the different sounds at her disposal … However, things never feel scattered, and Apokalypsis' experiments lend to the album's more nuanced approach.

Beats Per Minute

The album’s foremost downside is its overall lack of surprise – each of the songs utilizing the same tone and color all the way through. But you can’t argue that Ἀποκάλυψις feels like a collection of ideas unified by a single purpose.

No Ripcord
Wolfe’s throbbing compositions are a revelation; as she uncovers her true self, she almost convinces the rest of us that any deeper meaning is superfluous.
60
Consequence of Sound
Chelsea Wolfe seeks to do everything in her power to remain foreboding, and it’s actually quite entrancing.

A.V. Club

Wolfe’s goth experimentalism is certainly harrowing stuff, but it’s missing the chilling detachment and roughness that made The Grime And The Glow feel dark in unfamiliar and unsettling ways.

This album was very skeletal, but it used this empty harrowing space to create a dark and unforgettable soundscape. I haven’t listened to this album in over a year and I remember when I first listened, how dark it felt, and how it seemed to give such comfort in that black space.

I hope the guy that shared his mobile data with me to finish this album goes to Heaven.

A great record by the Gothic Singer/Songwriter mixing elements of darkwave and ethereal wave for a haunting, surreal and apocalyptic atmosphere, with her vocals truly shining throughout the record and although the sound is quite accessible it doesn't remove much from the overall experience.

Much like her previous album but much darker. The sound is more complete here and the psychedelic aspects add this extra layer of tortured to it which is not common for that vibe of song. This album is great

Can’t get behind the how soft the vocals are after hearing some of her stellar vocal performances on later releases
