AllMusic
Vera Sola's blurring of past and present sounds especially apt to the early 2020s here, but more often, Peacemaker's dreamlike world has a timeless appeal that fans of Calexico, Timber Timbre, and Marissa Nadler will love.

The Line of Best Fit

Vera Sola's Peacemaker balances pop know-how and theatrical flair.

Loud and Quiet
All of the stories are held together like tales under an ancient, black-and-white circus tent by stabbing guitars and bass lines that sound like heartbeats. This is life, in all its wonder and terror.

Mojo
There's a full band, a string section Swarmatron and brass. Reassuringly, the songs are strong enough to carry the new load.

The Observer
The singer-songwriter’s smoky vocals, downbeat wit and polished Nashville sound all make for a nicely doomy set of folk songs.

Exclaim!
These recurring themes of loneliness and confused love can grow repetitive, deployed in similar ways from song to song, but Sola is still able to keep the imagery fleshed out and distinctive.

Uncut
Sola can be detached but is at her best when she leans into the songs.

It’s a powerful voice but ... read more

Was alright, had some real potential and I like the string and guitar flourishes on here. Quite varied too. Feel like a decent late night record. But didn't have enough great moments to hook me. Best track: Waiting.

'Waiting' is a great track. Really enjoyed the emotion brought out through the delivery of the lyrics.

Doofy's comparison to Lana Del Rey is spot-on, because I would 100% support her moving into americana. Just looking at this album, the swaying vocals match the folkish atmospheres amazingly.

I feel like this is one of those albums where the album cover perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the album.

This album is 100% one of those albums that you just want to have on in the background during your day-to-day life. It's very folk-inspired and just brought this peaceful aura on me as I listened, it makes me feel like I'm in the old west sitting in a bar listening to someone sing. The vocals are fantastic, the instrumentals dynamic and well mixed - the only major complaint I have is ... read more
