In the mid-90's, Sepultura would abandon their thrash metal sound and go for a more mainstream groove metal aesthetic, inspired by the likes of Pantera and Machine Head. And while that sounds awful on paper, Chaos A.D. turns out to be one of their best efforts (and their best of the 90's).
