Simz creates a futuristic sounding project with electronic music complimenting her pretty stilted flow. It just is not a great combo. Her low energy style of rap with this type of music is really bad. It really brings out her flaws as an artist

That being said, she is not washed up due to a bad project. It is an experiment made in 3 days. Nothing to get mad over

Thank god I'm listening to this instead of Kanye right now.

Live track by track review:

1. Mood Swings: Wow this track is a damn banger you guys don't understand shit, I've seen the low track rating and I thought it's gonna be ass. This is probably one of the most experimental tracks that Simz has released in a minute and I love it. The scattered beat is so intoxicating and infectious, and the eerie samples on top of it are perfect. I also love Simz' stripped back delivery on top of it, ... read more

As much as I love Little Simz' music, I Ain't Feelin' this EP.

I'm all for artists for stepping out of their comfort zone to try and experiment with different genres, but it doesn't always work for everybody. It does here though, for the most part.

Little Simz still offers her signature flows which are always charismatic and on point when it comes to the level of energy; any wonder why she's a hip-hop favourite these days?

I'd also say that the production itself is versatile; Simz keeps her ... read more

Putting the Little in this little Little Simz project.

Seemingly contrary to a lot of people here, I actually quite enjoyed this. It’s definitely not on the level as her recent albums but I think that was expected given her EP track record and how unbelievably high her standards are at the moment; I didn’t find this disappointing at all. The dark and heavy tone + the glitchy experimentation and the electronic groove influences are new from Simz (I think) while still sounding like ... read more

Track 5’s title sums up my opinions on this thing

Well, this came out of the blue. I’m a pretty big Little Simz fan, and when I saw this was dropping I was fairly excited. Hearing about how this ‘Drop’ set of EPs is basically a way for Simz to test out ideas sounded interesting. And even though not everything landed here, it was still intriguing.

To start I would like to point out the two tracks I really enjoyed. The first being the closing track Far Away. Here Simz ... read more

Did she… miss?

That’s a hard thing for me to reconcile to be honest, considering UK rapper Little Simz is currently on one of the greatest three-album-runs in hip hop history, going back to 2019s ‘GREY Area’, 2021s ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, and 2022s ‘NO THANK YOU’. With that stretch of albums (all 9/10’s in my opinion), Simz had firmly planted herself in my mind as one of the greatest rappers in the game, male or female, and ... read more

Little Simz new EP Drop 7 while nothing amazing like SIMBI or GREY Area is genuinely such a amazing listen.

Every beat here just hits and I find myself vibing here all throughout.

Simz rapping is on point especially in tracks like "Fever"

Overall Drop 7 is a great bite sized project from Little Simz that I feel fans of her are going to enjoy.

Brief Review:

Little Simz released Drop 7, it has 7 tracks, and I'm giving it a 7/10. Show me another rapper that can do this type of shit 😀

Is this Little Simz's best work? Not at all. Is it as bad as some people say? In my opinion, no. I get that this change-up is a bit weird and random, but it's honestly not that bad. In fact, I like it. For the most part, the tribal type production done on this EP is pretty great. Torch is a nice example of having some great production. It's modern, ... read more

As a step towards furthering her sound, it’s personally enjoyable to see Little Simz play with such experimental sound, albeit they clearly aren’t extremely fleshed out yet.

It’s fun, it’s eclectic, and yes, it’s lacking in some major substance and refinement, but overall I think it’s a great step in the right direction for Sims’s music.

Super impressed with the latest works of Simbi and quite surprised and the negative reception indeed!

I really like that she's experimenting with her sound and i think it works pretty well though i also think she needs to adjust to it better, the first songs were the best, i still trust she's got much more to give!!
(Damn that score is brutal man)

Kanye didn't release his album, because he was scared of Little Simz. 100%.
After her previous album "No Thank You", Little Simz starts new chapter of her music career with another ep from "Drop" series. Like her previous ep, this one also is more adventures side project. Simz tries on this short ep to experiment with her sound. This record features a lot of elements from electronic music. Like always she has really engaging performances. Her flows and deliveries are really ... read more

Well that was underwhelming. I know Simz takes a more relaxed approach to EPs, which is understandable, but this was a pretty boring experience. There are some decent lyrics but there doesn’t seem to be all that much ambition put into this, so I doubt she’s expecting to please many people outside of her fans.

This cover is how I imagined ChatGPT in real life

Ok but how do you go from SIMBI to this in two and a half years, I hope this is her just dropping some leftovers, which I believe will be the case because this is really her first miss since the beginning of her career.

The production of this album fails to be compatible with Simz’ flow, making everything just feel off. It also doesn’t help that her attempts to make hooks just straight up fall short time in and time out.

However ... read more

NO NUANCE REVIEW

Yeah I’m not getting the lackluster feedback for this one, I think this is a very good switchup from what she’s been doing. It’s certainly not as fully developed as it could be, it is a 14 minute EP after, but I would eat up a whole album like this with just a little bit of refinement.

(...) Therefore, the best way to analyze a work like Drop 7 coming from a catalog as rich as Little Simz's is not by comparing proposals, identities and sounds that are essentially alien to each other - especially not by saying that the artist has "fallen" from a state that doesn't represent the EP at all - but rather to see what the rapper is trying to bring to the table with it, what provocations are addressed and how well the final product presents these characteristics. And when ... read more

The revitalized dance craze expands to the (somewhat) undergound/under-appreciated Rap scene. Drop 7 is a bit of change up for Little Simz and I can't say that it suffices all that much. To be honest, if you went into this EP expecting something like her past two projects, you set yourself up for failure because this is a pretty distinct stylistic switch up for Simbi.

While the instrumentals are inoffensive, it sounds like they are missing something and sound a little underdeveloped. On one ... read more

Nothing that stood out as a major highlight, but for what it was, I liked the change in sound. Here, Simz evolves her sound into something more EDM/electronic-based than ever before. Overall, it's quite good and consistent, with Mood Swings, S.O.S. and Far Away being my favorites. The fast-tempo rhythms are constantly catchy and effective, with some nice drum patterns to back them up. That being said, this is definitely one of her weakest efforts in a few years. Under the assumption that she's ... read more

I'mma go ahead and drop a 7 on this~

Consistently entertaining!

Little Simz toys with some eclectic soundscapes on her new EP, and it's a fun ride!

I know this one isn't supposed to be taken too seriously - she's been dropping "Drop" (get it?) EPs for a while, and they're more of an avenue for her to experiment with new sounds and styles - not really a committed artistic statement.

That being said, while "Drop 7" doesn't go full in on the direction it's pointing towards, ... read more

Brief Review: Basically track 5 is my thoughts in a nutshell, I’m just really not feelin this one that much. I get that its just an EP of leftovers and all that, and I do see the vision of what she’s going for with this one, but generally speaking, pretty much all the ideas on here just feel lazily done and really half baked. Eh.
