2015's Peripheral Vision was indeed more dynamic and, for that reason, might remain their strongest effort for the time being. But let yourself sink into Good Nature, and you'll find yourself in a place of idyllic beauty.

A far cry from ‘Magnolia’ and even ‘Peripheral Vision’, ‘Good Nature’ is proof that experimentation can pay off. And though not so left-of-centre as to be inaccessible, it’s still a richly nuanced record that reveals more of itself with each listen.

Even if it’s probably not as good as the album that rose them to prominence, it’s still a solid effort.

The Line of Best Fit

Depending on your preference, the sound of Good Nature will taste either of subtle maturity, or of a soft —albeit sweet — scoop of vanilla.

Pitchfork

The flaws of Peripheral Vision derived almost entirely from the times Getz’s aggrieved point of view clashed with the newfound, sleek elegance of Turnover’s music. But there are zero moments on Good Nature that have to be enjoyed through gritted teeth, and plenty that can be paired with your favorite Sonoma Valley grape.

Northern Transmissions
Coming in for their third record, Virginia trio Turnover have a sound and know how to play in it. This said their new record while strong and full of great melodies, is often sounding a little too repetitive, or crowding its melodies to the point that none of them stand out.

AllMusic

While there is plenty to like about Turnover 2.0, they sometimes come across as too easy on the ears, with each song floating pleasantly by without causing enough of a fuss to make it stick. Much like its name, Good Nature is well-meaning and polite, but doesn't do quite enough to distinguish itself.

The Skinny

Good Nature plods along at a pleasant pace, but there's nothing here you won't have heard elsewhere before.

Good Nature recaptures the brightness and pop sheen, sure, but it's a trip back to a treasured childhood location only to find that the palace in your mind was always just a fallen tree, and the river your dreams used to float along forever is just a kinda gross, muddy little stream.

Undoubtedly cut from the same cloth as Periphiral Vision, Good Nature is the younger, chiller brother of the "Turnover 2.0" era since the band decided on a change of direction form their debut LP Magnolia. As fantastically warming and sweet as this ... read more

Canciones suavecitas, agradables y que se asemejan a una grata tarde soleada de primavera. Los Turnover logran su mejor trabajo a la fecha con 'Good Nature', una completa dosis de positividad a nuestros oídos.

Good Nature is an utterly gorgeous record that thankfully makes good on the promise of change by Turnover. While some songs may be a bit indistinguishable from the other sound-wise, each track is worth listening to just for the band’s ramblings about everyday-life and their new optimistic mind-set. Knowing this band, the dream-like work won’t last forever so just allow yourself to float amongst the shoe-gazy tidings while they’re around.
