That's right, ladies and gentlemen, it's a Tame Impala rush!

Tame Impala's self-titled EP is actually pretty impressive for their first (or second) project. On this EP they go for a 60's psychedelic rock sound, very much reminiscent of the Beatles when they were transitioning into their psychedelic sound. On top of that Kevin's voice sounds a lot like John Lennon or somebody from the Beatles, once again enhancing that Beatles sound. Beatles comparisons aside, as its own project this was ... read more

On Tame Impala's debut EP, you can see this Beatles-inspired band being... the Beatles. That's not as bad as it sounds, though. While the sound isn't as clean cut as their later works, they at least go for some intriguing, psychedelic 60's sounds here with Kevin Parker doing his best Lennon impression. Okay, yeah, I'm kinda making this EP sound worse than it actually is. But I do recommend you to check this out if you're on a Tame Impala deep dive.

Couple of mixing issues here and there but other than that it's a very enjoyable and solid EP

The debut, self-titled EP from Tame Impala may feel a little dated on listen, but tracks such as A Half Full Glass Of Wine have cemented themselves as still being some of his best work to date. A very strong, consistent EP from start to finish, really nailing that 60's sound that he became famous for, granting him the title of sounding like a modern day "The Beatles". An incredibly consistent EP that still holds it own after over 11 years.

Pretty lame to admit but I once had a dream they covered the original version of "I Saw The Light" by Nazz (Todd Rundgren wrote it). It was a great cover and I wish it were real. Also once dreamed Rush covered "Burnin For You" by BOC and that was legendary also lol
