Despite the long-winded nature of the album, Uzi definitely got it right with Luv Is Rage 2. The songs are catchy, the beats are hot and Uzi gives a vocal performance that redefines the term rap rock star. He still might be searching for his magnum opus album but if he keeps putting out projects like this, and growing along the way, Uzi will find his classic sooner rather than later.

The Philadelphia native was always known for his catchy hooks, but on this record he pushes his sound to more mainstream levels.

Uzi’s latest project comes very close to delivering on the chaotic, sublime promise of “XO Tour Llif3.” It’s the Philly rapper’s most musically developed work to date.

Consequence of Sound

Nearly every song on Luv Is Rage 2 comes with a distinct enough hook to break up the limited set of things it does and subjects it ponders.

The album finds him almost completely ignoring traditional lyricism in favor of warbling emotion, with the result being a sometimes-messy affair that nevertheless maintains a colorful vibe.
Tiny Mix Tapes
The breadth of sounds covered will scan as inconsistency to all but the most pious Uzi devotees, but it’s hard to imagine anything else serving as a more comprehensive document of rap in 2017.
Although Uzi's post-breakup pain rears its head throughout the entirety of the album, many of the tracks are too fun to get too bogged down in emotions.

A lot of tracks start off OK, but his flow and style are so unfocused and muddled the songs become a chore to sit through.

The Needle Drop

Lil Uzi Vert's debut studio album is the musical equivalent to binge eating Sour Patch Kids.

Intolerable pop trap. More ad-libs than bars, generic beats, and literally nothing that makes this album stand out, yet again I am dumbfounded by the fact that Lil Uzi Vert is possibly the most popular rapper in the mainstream. He cannot rap and has the emptiest lyrics possible. Sure, he is listened to "for the vibes" but I am yet to find something that is unique or interesting in Uzi's music.

"When I was small, mama made me tall" is one of the most heartfelt lines that Uzi ever wrote in his career.

"Luv Is Rage 2", the sequel to the tape, is Uzi's mainstream and studio debut album, with some of his most polished work yet that perfectly depicts his colorful persona and style, as well as more singing tracks that i hoped for. It's spacey and really atmospheric, offering some of his more psychedelic styles of songs, which are definetly the ... read more
Uzi delivers a pretty long and mediocre album with Luv Is Rage 2. The album can really be summed up a few word: not enough variety. While some artists can use one style and create an album that doesn't sound long or full of filler, Uzi is not one of them. His style of mumble rapping on this album only works for a few songs and gets boring and repetitive on the rest. The songs it works on are the ones that either feature other artists (Neon Guts, Unfazed) or the ones were he actually puts some ... read more
Been listening to some old Uzi before Eternal Atake, and I'd like to talk a bit about my opinion on Uzi and this album right here.

Firstly, I actually feel like the now officially announced Eternal Atake, given the quality of the singles he has put out during the past two years, might be one of the best albums of 2020 and one of the best trap albums ever, which is something I never thought I'd say about the Baby Pluto gentleman. Every single he has released since New Patek has grown ... read more
