The Line of Best Fit

This 5-song collection is pretty magnificent.

Pitchfork

The five tracks on A&R match Annie to just the sort of repertoire the public’s demanding: danceable, but subtle enough to be positioned as a counterpoint to stadium EDM; nostalgic for the same strains of 90s pop house that Disclosure and others have taken to the charts.

Drowned in Sound

The blissed out softness and heightened subtlety of these tracks means that the EP lacks a summer-defining chorus which we’ve come to take as standard from Annie, but there’s a new consistency to her music here

Back Together - The best song on EP

The A&R EP is the sonic child of Annie and Richard X, whose production takes these songs to the same heights he took St. Etienne and Cassie last year. Every song would be a highlight on a full length album, and although it feels much too short, it's a satisfying sunspot of dazzling pop that makes the music world a little bit brighter.
