This was a significant step up compared to his debut. This was much tighter with way better songs. It appears that Newman is really good with getting to the point and having no filler in his albums, which I highly respect. The instrumental work on this was absolutely stunning and really really complimented Newman's vocals. The songwriting is just incredible as well. Overall, an amazingly beautiful continuation of his work!

12 songs, is a captivating record. It is so beautifully crafted and it is a shame that it goes under the radar, and for a matter of fact the majority of Randy Newman's studio albums, because the man has got some serious song writing talent and 12 songs shows showcase his ability so well.
