"Trinity Lane" has all the ingredients to be one of the better roots releases of the year, and I suspect to some listeners it will be. Lilly Hiatt has rock star gusto, bold songwriting, and a unique, dark perspective. But she doesn't have hooks, and this makes it really hard to rock out to an album that desperately calls for rocking out.
