Sometime in the late 90's/early 00's, Q-Tip probably did his first line of coke, punched a bathroom mirror, and screamed 'I GOT JAZZ IN MY BONES, BOBBY!' And that's probably how we got this. Barely In Love is still fire though.
These track rankings are so criminal, this is a more chilled out and silky smooth output from Q-Tip that embraces his Hiphop roots with a nice blend of Neo-Soul. Let me be clear Q-Tip is no D'Angelo but this is a feel good project with some excellent production, I just wish Q-Tip did more with himself instead of letting the feelings of this album drive it. i feel like if this came out in 2002, after his first album as it was intended to it would have a lot more people talking about it as it would've been quite ahead of it's time. but we're in the world where this is just a slightly dissapointing follow-up to the renaissance. i hope his next album which he said was coming march 2024 is great tho. best song is make it work.
