This is commons fourth album, and I gotta say... damn. This album I feel is his prime, and oh is it good. I cannot get enough of this album, it is far beyond his other albums. Amazing lyrics, great production, meaningful songs, just everything good about an album. It even had the best version of pops rap. This album even ended off one of my favorite 3 album runs in any rappers discographies. This is just a great album.

At first look this album has a monstrous lineup. Common gets a majority of production from J Dilla and Questlove of the Roots, with D'Angelo and DJ Premier working on a few tracks. Guest vocals: Bilal, Jill Scott, Cee-Lo Green. Rapping: Mos Def and MC Lyte. Stacked.
On this record you see Common on his creative and lyrical peak, combining strong wordplay with introspective lyrics and smooth flows. He covers a large variety of topics (ghetto life, pimping, spirituality, misogyny, and everything ... read more

Contrary to his pseudonym, Common veers away from prevalent trends in the hip hop community to discuss topics that are seldom spoken about in music, such as aspects afrocentrism through jazzy and silky instrumentals, stereotyping, and accomplishments within the black community that are often swept under the rug.
His musical content might have been an outlier ... read more
I love that he made an ode to Fela Kuti at the beginning of the album. RIP to the legendary FK.
