Paul portrays, once again, his extraordinary songwriting skills with a album that sounds fresh to this day
"Band on the Run" has always been a favourite of mine and most people would agree. At the time the album received overwhelminly positive reviews and even today critics agree when they say this is Paul McCartneys best solo effort. Some songs are not as good as others ("Mamunia" and "Helen Wheels" for example) but the other songs are so damn good they outweigh the before mentioned songs. Never would class myself as a 'Paul man' though this is the best solo stuff I've heard from him.

Some great guitar tones on 'Let Me Roll It' but some of the ballads lean towards the slight or the sappy - it's McCartney after all.
