FANTASTIC

Not quite folk-Yes, not quite prog-Yes. Time And A Word has the best of both worlds when it comes to both forms of the band in the 70’s, and this is easily my favorite of their formative albums. It’s a BIT straightforward, but it makes up for it with personality and creativity--things that other albums I bashed for being straightforward or bland (which this album isn’t) didn’t have.

It's remarkable how there was only one year between Yes's first two albums and the ones which would follow. This one I would rank above their debut since it has one song which I enjoy returning to (the title track), even if it doesn't sound like Yes. Other than that one, it's pretty unremarkable.

Very poor album, annoying and pretentious. The only good thing here is the great song "Time and a Word".
