Album swap with @Brando!
I've heard of Genesis before, but I haven't heard a full album from them. And this one is decent!
Most of the songs are solid, with good production, dreamy vocals and progressive structures, and even though it doesn't really strike a strong cord in me, the first 3 songs feel a little boring, but it's still pretty good. I especially like Stagnation.
It's a good album, I feel like every song is at least pretty decent, again nothing that blew my mind, but I still overly ... read more
This is the first real proper prog rock album by Genesis, the band definitely figured themselves out at this point. Sure, there's a few imperfections, and the perfect band lineup hasn't arrived yet, but it's very good for what it is. More about that later, I'll go into the songs now.
Looking For Someone is certainly a song which may confuse some people, as it changes a lot and is the most inconsistent track of the album. It's performed well, though, despite an awkward beginning, and I like it ... read more

Though you probably do need to keep in mind that the band would develop further from here, there's nothing here that suggests that Gabriel and company were amateurs by any means. Favorite track is Stagnation.
this album and Lamb Lies Down on Broadway used to be my two favorite albums ever before my eyes were opened to the actual world of music. Before I anything I listen now, when I hadn't even HEARD of EMINEM, which is crazy, I was listening to this.
I was pretty culturally shut in until very recently, since I've never really had any friends until I was around twelve, when I really started to listen to music as a passion, and to write it as well.
Anyways, revisiting this album brings back ... read more
This doesn't really hit the way it did when I was 15. It's a bit dull but still has some good parts to it.
