There's a great album in here somewhere. But the concept/lyrics are total bullshit and someone simply just needed to tell Peter Gabriel no on this one in nearly every respect. Phil Collins really was the saving grace of this album though, and some of my personal favorite Genesis cuts as well as prog cuts show up on this album. Just a bit bloated, a bit pretentious, really disorganized, and ambitious to a fault.
The best Genesis album in my mind. Ambitious, challenging, interesting but fantastic.

I mean, it’s alright. I honestly would rather listen to AC/DC sing about rock ‘n’ roll sex then be expected to buy into Peter Gabriel’s mystic, pseudo-intellectual bullshit lol.
Its because of albums like The Lamb that Genesis is considered to be one of greatest progressive rock bands of all time. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is like going to theatre, you just have to close your eyes and let your imagination do the work. The story mastermind Peter Gabriel created for this is absolutley amazing and magical, creating monsters and ilusions for our main protagonist lost in New York looking for his long lost brother.
