This intro stands as a much more low key one compared to the previous Lips albums. Even after the song picks up, it’s still pretty chill, and also sees the return of some almost christmasy bells. Though I do wish the first half was a bit less lo fi than it is.
Placebo Headwound also stands as one of the best in the band’s career thus far. It also has one of the most interesting instrumentals the band has done so far too.

Something about this record feels like a slight step down from Transmissions rather that be the production or general directions of the songs as a whole. This album is a good experience but not an essential listen for me.
As this was projected to be a much larger success for the group after nearly a decade of creating music, mostly due to the release of their hit song She Don't Use Jelly on their previous release, The Flaming Lips still didn't blow up or make entirely noticeable waves with the release of Clouds Taste Metallic. However, looking back, many consider it one of their best, and there are certainly good reasons for why this is the case.
