The Skinny

There’s a buoyant urgency to proceedings, the kind of detail in the lyrics that let you know here is a person telling you stories of the world as they see them in a way that is fiercely meant.

With the future of Modern Baseball uncertain, Slaughter Beach, Dog might be our only outlet to hear Ewald’s idiosyncratic songwriting style. Beyond the necessity, Birdie is a record that teeters an indie/emo line with ease and a sense of hybridity.
