Excellent concepts and themes, absolutely conscious and interventional lyrics, combined with instrumentals that perfectly complement the space left by the voice, that perfectly transports the pain of the stories told.

A very solid album that holds up quite well from beginning to end with excellent highlights and songs that I will keep.

Solid, conscious, very interesting.

Sure, this is Harvey's most straightforward release yet, and for that reason the most accessible to get into. But while it sheds away some of the haunting edge that attracted me towards Dry and the final moments of To Bring Me My Love, it makes up for this with punchier songwriting and melodies to draw the listener in and still make them feel included and invited in a brand new atmosphere.

Of course, when I talk about a 'brand new' atmosphere, I mean one that seems less soaked in a ghostly ... read more

Yeah it's her most straightforward , accessible release and doesn't distinguish her as much from the Morisettes and Phairs, but that doesn't really matter here. The songs are still great and her performances are excellent, albeit more reeled in. Hearing Thom Yorke in the middle of the album is just an added bonus.

As great as she's ever been. Her 3 first efforts were a bit better but thats like comparing The Rolling Stones to The Beatles.

the usual excellent tunes and musicianship but the lyrics ramble without the usual passion, a good album but not her best
