Warnings/Promises is a little top-heavy, but it's still a very consistent record from one of the most consistent bands I've come across since I've been writing music reviews. Yes, Idlewild seems to have, at this point in their career, settled into an R.E.M.-esque melodic rock style - and this should be a compliment by the way - but at a time when so many bands that I listen to either can't or won't write good vocal melodies, damn it if I don't appreciate a band that leans into them and makes me ... read more
