Sonically, ‘Blend Inn’ finds Hockey Dad harnessing a surf-rock aesthetic but with more oomph than you’d normally find from this rock sub-genre.

New South Wales duo Hockey Dad have found a solid balance with their sophomore LP, 'Blend Inn', building off the influences that moulded their first album.

Hockey Dad still aren't out to change the world, but they do what they do well and aren't afraid to evolve within their chosen parameters.

Blend Inn is fine sounding suburby rock, not much new to hear here though other than the track 'Sweet Release' which is the only real fresh and interesting moment of the record

The music is satisfying enough, the lyrical content is fairly weak but Blend Inn certainly feels like a record crafted with of some passion, feels like it lacks real inspiration too though and becomes quickly forgettable
Purchasing Blend Inn from Amazon helps support Album of the Year.
