AllMusic
While it doesn't feel like a fully realized album statement, it's a satisfying dose of content from Big Sean and Metro Boomin.

The 405

While Double or Nothing isn't entirely a miss, it certainly represents a downwards move for Metro Boomin. It makes sense that he'd seek bigger names to experiment with, but the choice of Big Sean was Hallmark safe. Particularly in contrast the usually steady bead he keeps on the freshest voices in hip hop, it's a disappointingly staid project.

Pitchfork

Though fun and at times politically salient, even Metro Boomin cannot rescue Big Sean from his habit of writing the absolute corniest lyrics imaginable.

The blame lies at the feet of Sean, whose limp bars and flow make middling fare of ten reasonably well-rounded bangers.

HipHopDX
The effectiveness of Sean’s punchlines has been the G.O.O.D. Music star’s biggest catalyst for criticism and oh god! does the facepalm emoji get a workout over these 40 minutes.

The Needle Drop
Atlanta's own Metro Boomin crafts some of his best production yet for this new collaboration with Big Sean, but the Detroit resident fails to deliver.

Big Sean ruins anything he touches now.

Big sean at his best is when lil wayne is at his worst. The only saving grace is Metro boombin beats, that dude needs to collab with better artist. Waste of good and fun beats.
