With some bangers and some thuds, this well produced album is exactly what Avenged set out to create; an homage to their inspirations like guns and roses and Metallica. However, a few songs hit a little too close to home (this means war in particular). Having said that, there are a few redeeming moments like Planets, Crimson Day and Requiem that showcase how talented this band can be. Avenged Sevenfold trying way too hard to be Metallica (seriously, the title track is just King Nothing in an A7X package). Fuck that noise. This band is at its best when it's being genuine on albums like Nightmare, or at its most aggressive on albums like City of Evil. This record has none of that.
ughhh it just doesn't sound right
No inspiration detected. Just trying to be Metallica or something of the sort without adding any personality or voice. Also just a really mundane experience overall.
