Northern Transmissions

Though there are definitely some out of place moments, Twin Peaks use the medium to make a record that feels just as varied as it does hold together. Has a surprising amount of cohesion despite some of the switches in feel between sections of the album.

All of this means a struggle for identity, but this isn't the crippling weakness it could have been. Twin Peaks prove too adept at sneaking into song-length disguises every time the next track starts. It's a disposable yet impressive vaudeville act.

This has been, and still is, my favorite thing to listen to so far in 2018. Twin Peaks are an excellent band, they're one of the best live acts right now, and I love them.

a pleasant compilation of their throwback-to-a-time-that-never-was style. if you are going to be atavistic and eclectic at the same time, better to do it this way if you want to minimize the gap between the live sound and the recordings. they sound like everybody, but that's a compliment.
